We are looking for an experienced and proactive Fleet Manager to lead the strategic and operational management of our company-wide fleet. As Fleet Manager, you will oversee all aspects of fleet operations including vehicle procurement, maintenance, compliance, fuel management, insurance, safety and optimisation. You will play a key role in ensuring our fleet is safe, efficient, compliant and aligned with the organisation’s operational and environmental goals. You will bring strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills and the ability to lead continuous improvement across fleet operations. Working closely with operational teams, you will ensure vehicles are available, compliant and performing to the highest standards. As part of the wider operational leadership team, you will support the development of fleet strategy, manage day-to-day fleet activity and ensure best practice across all fleet processes.

Responsibilities

  • Gaining a full understanding of the existing fleet position and conducting a gap analysis to determine short, medium and long-term requirements.
  • Carrying out all procedures required to gain and manage an Operator’s Licence.
  • Sourcing vehicles in line with the service redesign project.
  • Assessing future procurement options ahead of lease expiries.
  • Evaluating green fleet options and supporting environmental objectives.
  • Managing day-to-day fleet operations including servicing, MOTs, repairs, cover vehicles and fuel cards.
  • Monitoring and tracking all vehicle activity.
  • Arranging vehicle cleaning and accident damage repairs.
  • Creating a Fleet Strategy including optimisation initiatives and innovative solutions.
  • Developing and maintaining a Fleet Usage Policy and ensuring vehicles are kept in good order.
  • Managing insurance requirements.
  • Recording and maintaining accurate fleet data.
  • Managing the use of parking permits within the borough.
  • Keeping up to date with industry regulations, H&S legislation and internal procedures.
  • Investigating and introducing new vehicle technologies that benefit the company and environment.
  • Supporting specification reviews and advising on changes to enhance the fleet profile within budget.
  • Ensuring all new equipment specifications meet business needs and comply with legislation.
  • Anticipating, managing and resolving risks and issues, taking corrective action where required.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation, company policy, financial rules and governance requirements.
  • Promoting a high-quality, customer-focused service and supporting Data Protection, Equalities, Diversity and H&S standards.
  • Taking a proactive, commercially aware approach to delivering efficient and effective services.

Qualifications

  • Recognised industry qualification.
  • CPC holder.
  • Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) accredited.
