As a driver labourer, you\’ll be completing manual tasks on commercial and residential properties, which may include exterior and landscaping projects or occasionally, construction sites.
As a Labourer, you\’ll complete and support a variety of tasks and skilled trades in their roles, e.g., Electricians, Plumbers, and Bricklayers, and multi-skilled trades, and will contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient site while also supporting projects on responsive repairs, disrepair, voids, and other workstreams.
What a Day May Look Like
On a normal day, you could be doing any of the following:
- Driving and delivering.
- Loading and unloading tools, raw materials, and equipment.
- Assembling scaffolding, pieces of equipment, and temporary structures.
- Cleaning and preparing sites.
- Digging trenches, compacting earth, and backfilling holes.
- Operating and tending machinery and heavy equipment as instructed.
- Following instructions from supervisors and implementing plans.
- Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties.
To be successful in the role and to be progressed to interview stage, you\’ll need to:
Qualifications
- Full, clean manual UK driving licence.
Skills And Abilities
- Have experience and are comfortable using PDA/Smart Phone to take photos and access work and scheduling system.
- Experience of driving a commercial vehicle, parking, and driving around heavy traffic, school zones, and in built areas.
- Good knowledge of building and construction.
- Ability to be thorough and pay attention to detail.
- Experience of working with tools.
- The ability to work well with others.
- Physical skills like lifting, bending, and carrying (manual handling training/certificate would be beneficial).
- Knowledge of PASMA (working at heights), Asbestos, and current Health and Safety legislation, including Awaabs Law.
- IT literate – able to complete online training (e-learning) and use standard MS packages such as email and Teams.
- Good understanding of written instructions.
