The Contract Specialist role sits within the Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) team and supports commercial contracting across all BD UKI business units. It plays a key part in shaping and delivering contract solutions, including Managed Services, that support both new and existing customer relationships. The position works closely with teams across Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Customer Services, and Technical Services to develop, negotiate, and manage a wide range of agreements. By contributing commercial insight and strong contract knowledge, this role supports activities from early-stage opportunity through to implementation and ongoing contract management.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, draft, issue, and negotiate a range of contractual agreements from initiation through to completion.
- Review contracts to identify potential revenue leakage and support improvements to commercial performance.
- Ensure contractual obligations and deliverables are met in line with agreed timelines and requirements.
- Support the delivery of contracting activities through systems such as SFDC, maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation.
- Maintain compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and relevant legislation, including public procurement requirements.
- Monitor and report on contract and financial data, providing clear insights to business teams.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, customers, and external partners.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of contract management processes and governance practices.
Preferred Requirements
- Degree-level education or equivalent experience, ideally within business, economics, or a science-related field.
- Experience in contract management or a similar commercial role, with exposure to complex or managed service agreements.
- 3+ years of experience.
- Strong understanding of commercial terms, contract law principles, and public procurement processes.
- Confident using MS Office tools; experience with Power BI, SharePoint, and SFDC is beneficial.
- High attention to detail with strong organisation and problem-solving abilities.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing demands.
