Health & Safety Compliance Advisor
Location: Sittingbourne, Kent (Office-based with some site travel – expenses paid)
Salary: £32,000 – £37,000 per annum, dependent on experience (plus company benefits)
Hours: Full-time (Monday to Friday)
My client, a small but growing and well-established construction / environmental services business based in Sittingbourne, is seeking a proactive and dedicated Health & Safety Advisor to support their operations across the Local and London area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in health and safety within a supportive and progressive company that values continuous improvement and professional development. You will be working with the Contracts Manager and assisting them is running sites from a H&S aspect.
Key Responsibilities:
* Advise managers and staff on all health, safety, and welfare matters to ensure compliance with legal and company standards
* Conduct health & safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
* Assist in developing and implementing safety plans to minimise risk and drive safety improvements
* Provide coaching and training across teams to embed a strong safety culture
* Stay current with legislation, ensuring it is reflected in policies and practices
* Act as the main point of contact for H&S across sites – local and London area.
* Liaise with external bodies such as the HSE, Fire Service, and Police when required
* Take necessary action to stop or prohibit unsafe work activities
Candidate Requirements:
* NEBOSH General Certificate (or willing to undertake training with full support)
* IOSH membership or progression toward it
* Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation
* Previous experience in a similar role is preferred
* Industry experience in waste, recycling, environmental services, or construction is a plus
* Excellent communication and influencing skills
* Self-motivated with a passion for health & safety
* A full UK driving licence is essential
