Salary: BCP Band H (SCP 24-27) £35,412 – £38,220 per annum
Role Purpose
The Dorset Combined Youth Justice Service (YJS) is looking to recruit a full-time Education Officer to join our stable and supportive team. The ethos of the team is \”child first,\” and all staff have been trained in trauma-informed practice and restorative working.
Main Responsibilities
The Education Officer will support, challenge, monitor, assess, and negotiate the suitability and quality of educational provision for children in the Youth Justice Service. The role promotes a culture of high aspiration, enabling children to reach their educational potential.
The Ideal Candidate
You will be a qualified teacher or possess other postgraduate education qualifications, or hold a degree in a related field with equivalent experience. Experience in a school or educational setting and knowledge of the needs of children in the Youth Justice System are essential.
The candidate should have experience working with vulnerable children and be capable of building positive relationships. You will collaborate with colleagues to provide specialist advice regarding educational provisions for children in our service.
This role requires developing and maintaining effective, collaborative, and joint working relationships with a broad range of professionals to meet obligations and drive positive outcomes, with a focus on safeguarding and safety.
The Dorset Combined Youth Justice Service is a multi-disciplinary team of skilled professionals committed to diversifying its workforce and welcoming applicants from diverse backgrounds. The role covers the entire Dorset area, with bases in Dorchester or North Bournemouth.
