This role is part of the Focused Deterrence project in response to knife crime. The Community Resource Worker will support children and young people in constructive activities, build confidence, and deter further offending.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide practical, hands-on experience in mechanics, bike maintenance, DIY, crafting, cooking, etc.
- Model acceptable behaviour, promote pro-social attitudes, and encourage good decision making and problem-solving.
- Support children and young people, including management of challenging behaviour, with a good understanding of child protection issues.
- Build positive relationships and help young people achieve accreditation with AQA as they progress toward independence.
- Participate in training and professional development to improve skills and support future career development.
The Ideal Candidate
- Outgoing, friendly personality and strong communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-agency team and travel to offices in Dorchester and North Bournemouth.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including non-office hours, and to undertake lone working in the community and at office bases.
Location & Working Conditions
- Flexibility to travel between Dorchester and North Bournemouth, and willingness to work lone and flexible hours.
- Travel to community sites and maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
