As part of the Focused Deterrence project and our response to knife crime, we are looking to recruit a Community Resource Worker for a fixed period of 12 months. The role supports children and young people by engaging them in constructive activities, teaching new skills, and building confidence and self‑esteem while deterring further offending.

Responsibilities

  • Model acceptable behaviour, promote pro‑social attitudes, and practice good decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
  • Engage children and young people in constructive activities, helping them learn new skills and build confidence.
  • Build positive relationships with each child or young person and support them to achieve some level of accreditation with AQA’s as they move towards independence.
  • Support the multi‑agency team, manage challenging behaviour, and maintain child protection awareness.
  • Work flexible hours, including non‑office hours, and undertake lone work in the community and at office bases.
  • Travel to Dorchester and North Bournemouth as required.

Qualifications

  • Confident, energetic, self‑motivated worker.
  • Hands‑on experience in Mechanics, bike maintenance, DIY, crafting, cooking, or similar areas.
  • Experience working with children and young people, including managing challenging behaviour.
  • Good understanding of child protection issues.
  • Right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.

Remuneration

Starting salary £30,518 (pro rata for part‑time colleagues)
