Internal colleagues are also normally appointed at the bottom of the band, unless moving within the same profession and skill level, where the pay band is the same they can be appointed to the existing pay point.
Role Purpose
BCP Council are looking for a proactive Waste and Cleansing Officer to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Waste and Cleansing teams across BCP areas.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the planning, allocation, and coordination of operational activities to manage workflow and resources efficiently.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the operational team to ensure work is delivered to defined service standards.
- Assist with the recruitment, training, inductions, and performance management activities for the team.
- Contribute to service planning and development by quantifying and scoping potential works, including collating costs and tender information.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports relating to service activity, performance, and issues.
- Represent the service unit at meetings with internal and external stakeholders to maintain effective working relationships.
- Manage customer contact using relevant systems, ensuring responses are accurate and timely.
- Update asset records and work schedules using the appropriate IT systems.
- Deputise for the Waste & Cleansing Operations Managers.
- Undertake investigations into employment matters, collating evidence, conducting interviews, and preparing and presenting information at hearings.
- Undertake compliance and welfare checks for operational team.
The role is 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday, but may include some occasional weekend working as needed. There are two posts available – one to cover early shift and one to cover afternoon/early evening shifts (hours of operations are 04:30 ‑ 20:30). There may be a requirement to cover other supervisor roles/shifts and occasionally working at other locations within the BCP area.
