Role Purpose

BCP Council is looking for a proactive Waste and Cleansing Officer to support the day‑to‑day operations of the Waste and Cleansing teams across BCP areas.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, allocation and coordination of operational activities to manage workflow and resources efficiently.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the operational team to ensure work is delivered to defined service standards.
  • Assist with recruitment, training, inductions and performance management activities for the team.
  • Contribute to service planning and development by quantifying and scoping potential works, including collating costs and tender information.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports relating to service activity, performance and issues.
  • Represent the service unit at meetings with internal and external stakeholders to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Manage customer contact using relevant systems, ensuring responses are accurate and timely.
  • Update asset records and work schedules using appropriate IT systems.
  • Deputise for the Waste & Cleansing Operations Managers.
  • Undertake investigations into employment matters, collating evidence, conducting interviews and presenting information at hearings.
  • Undertake compliance and welfare checks for the operational team.

Requirements

  • A current valid driving licence is required; Cat C is preferred.
  • The role is 37 hours a week Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work and may require covering other supervisor roles or working at other locations within the BCP area.
