The predicted salary is between 26403 - 28142 £ per year.

The pay range for this role will be £26,403 – £28,142 (pro rata for part time colleagues). We’re looking forward to welcoming new colleagues under this refreshed framework of pay, terms, and conditions. To promote fairness and consistency, all new starters will begin at the bottom of the pay band. This reflects our commitment to equity across the organisation and aligns with the approach taken with existing staff during the transition. Our Seafront Service plays a vital role in managing our beautiful, award‑winning coastline, and we are now looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team as a Land Train Driver. Working within a supportive and collaborative environment, you will help deliver the day‑to‑day operation of the Seafront Land Train Service, providing outstanding customer service, ensuring safety at all times, and contributing to a thriving seafront experience for residents and visitors alike.

Role Purpose

To drive the BCP Seafront Land Trains in accordance with the highway code and Land Train Driving regulations, to convey passengers safely and enjoyably. The role will work with seasonal staff.

Accountabilities

  • Drive the Land Train vehicles along designated seafront routes to a specified timetable, ensuring that an efficient and safe service is provided at all times.
  • Set up and garage the land train vehicles, carrying out daily safety checks and basic vehicle checks in adherence with defined health and safety requirements, to ensure a safe and compliant service.
  • Provide information to customers about the service and the local sites and attractions, so that customers experience a high‑quality and helpful service.

Knowledge / Skills / Experience Requirements

  • Category D driving licence & CPC certificate
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety processes.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for vehicle checks.
  • Some experience of working in a customer service.
  • Ability to follow set routes and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate with customers and colleagues with courtesy.

Dimensions Of Role

This role does not have any supervisory or management requirements. This role does not manage any direct budgets. The role drives on pre‑determined routes to a pre‑determined timetable, with some limited need to reprioritise tasks and actions.

Working Conditions

The role will be expected to help load passengers’ wheelchairs and pushchairs on and off the train. The role is exposed to varying temperatures from working outside in all weathers, as well as exposed to noise as they sit behind the engine of the train. The role is required to maintain concentration to ensure the safety of customers and pedestrians. The role is exposed to some challenging antisocial behaviour from members of the public.
