We are seeking to recruit Solicitors/Lawyers to undertake varied, high‑quality legal work with supportive colleagues who are committed to public service and excellent client care. The ideal candidate will be able to manage their own caseload with appropriate supervision and contribute to the effective delivery of Legal Services.

Role Purpose

To provide high‑quality, timely and accurate legal advice and support to officers, members and clients, ensuring that Legal Services contributes effectively to the delivery of organisational priorities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage a varied caseload of matters relevant to the post‑holder’s area of law.
  • Provide clear and accurate legal advice to officers and clients on routine to complex matters.
  • Support senior colleagues on more complex or high‑risk cases as required.
  • Represent the Council in legal proceedings commensurate with the role’s level of responsibility.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legislation, case law and best practice.
  • Contribute to training sessions and updates for officers and clients where appropriate.

  • Qualified solicitor, barrister or Chartered Legal Executive.
  • Post‑qualification experience in relevant area of law.

  • Ability to negotiate and influence in day‑to‑day legal matters.
Job Requirements

Must be able to travel, using public or other forms of transport where viable, or by holding a valid UK driving licence with access to own or pool car.
