We are looking for a full‑time, fixed‑term Performance Analyst for the Education & Skills Performance & Intelligence Team within the Children’s Services, with a contract ending December 2026.
Role Purpose
To lead on the provision of collating, storing and processing management information and data to support wider departmental business decision making and analysis. This role requires you to interpret complex data and information to produce high‑quality performance analysis for key programmes and projects, and to support the team with the overall transformation journey.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and take responsibility for analysing complex Education & Skills performance information in line with corporate objectives and improvement plans.
- Support with implementing the performance framework by updating and improving existing scorecards as well as identifying more efficient ways to share the data on a reliable and self‑serve basis (Power BI).
- Produce and present specialist performance analysis for all levels within Children’s Services and partners, turning complex data into easy‑to‑digest performance information.
- Contribute to the development of partner and multi‑agency data sets through the identification of correlations and trends.
- Maintain policy and technical expertise and knowledge in relation to changes to national and regional policy, legislative change and technical advancements in order to change processes and provide advice to colleagues.
- Work proactively and collaboratively with the business as well as system support to ensure maximum data accuracy in source data.
- Support Performance & Intelligence Manager and Head of Service with data requirements.
- Complete the production of statutory and regulatory information and performance data and analysis, including Ofsted inspections.
- Extract, collate and summarise information and develop analytical reports and performance dashboards.
Essential Knowledge / Skills / Experience Required
- Knowledge of Synergy and Synergy Case Management.
- Experience of working with SEND performance in Power BI.
- Experience of creating Children Services Local Authority monthly performance reporting through Power BI.
- Appropriate IT/training qualification at degree level or equivalent.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office including advanced Excel skills and the ability to draw analysis and reports.
- Substantial knowledge of the processes and regulations relating to data protection.
- Experience of managing and analysing complex and sensitive data and producing and presenting clear summary information.
- Experience of designing, implementing, and producing management information reports from data systems.
- Ability to translate technical concepts and information into more accessible language for non‑specialists, and to communicate persuasively to inform and generate acceptance in others concerning information and analysis.

- Will have very strong IT skills including MS Office, Power BI, Fabric and SQL.
- Be experienced in using Power BI to its full capacity.
- Be a proactive self‑starter with the ability to use your own initiative as well as working as part of a team.
- Will have a commitment to improving outcomes for children, young people and families.
