Starting salary for this role is £30,518 (pro rata for part‑time colleagues). Duty Officer – 18.5 hours a week, evenings and alternate weekends. We are looking for a motivated team player who will have a crucial role at the heart of Kinson Community Centre as Duty Officer, working with different council service areas, centre hirers, community groups, elected members and other stakeholders. Supported by the Centre Manager, you will actively engage with members of the public, local communities and centre hirers to develop the centre as a vibrant part of the community and support its maintenance and day‑to‑day running to provide a safe, welcoming and professional environment for all users.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the Kinson Community Centre Manager to ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Fire Safety legislation.
- Assist the Centre Manager with centre administration, including arranging room bookings.
- Act as a point of contact for centre users by answering queries, handling complaints and setting up rooms.
- Oversee and support Friends of Kinson Community Centre volunteers and the Supported Apprenticeship scheme through BCP Council.
- Manage site security, including operation of alarm systems, key-holding and opening/closing tasks.
- Provide on‑site support to centre hirers, including the relocation and provision of resources and room setup.
- Conduct inspections of the premises.
- Perform daily cleaning duties.
- Receive and direct centre hirers and users at the facility.
- Respond promptly to incidents, handling multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
- Comply with all council decisions, policies, standing orders and statutory requirements such as the Equality Act, the Health and Safety at Work Act and General Data Protection Regulations.
