Our Team

The Adult Social Care Long-Term Conditions Strategic Commissioning Team is part of the Wellbeing Directorate. Our aim is to shape social care services so that they meet people’s needs and support new, creative ways of working. Across ASC Commissioning, we’re committed to supporting BCP Council’s Adult Social Care strategy by focusing on strengths-based practice, helping people stay independent for as long as possible, reducing reliance on formal services, and developing community-based support that enables people to live well in their own homes and neighbourhoods. One of the key responsibilities for ASC Commissioning under the Care Act is to work closely with providers to shape and maintain a diverse, high-quality, and sustainable care market. We build strong relationships with partners, understand market pressures, and support innovation to ensure there is enough flexible and reliable provision to meet current and future needs. This role will directly contribute to meeting our duties in this area.

Role Purpose

We’re looking for an ambitious, motivated and organised Commissioning Officer to join our Adult Social Care Commissioning Team. In this role, you will contribute to the development and delivery of key commissioning priorities, helping to build a sustainable, high-quality care market. You will have the opportunity to work across a range of social care services, with a particular focus on leading provider engagement as we implement a new and exciting Provider Engagement Strategic Plan. Central to this work is ensuring that all social care providers are well informed, supported, and actively involved in commissioning activity. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting residential care markets, helping to ensure services remain sustainable, high quality, and responsive to changing demand. You will need to be confident in interpreting data, insights and market trends, and using this information to inform and strengthen commissioning decisions. We are looking for someone who is confident in building strong, collaborative relationships, and who can effectively represent the Council as a primary point of contact for providers and partners. This is a highly visible role where you will lead on the delivery of provider forums, workshops and engagement events to help improve outcomes for adults.
