We are a leading managed IT services provider and technology consultant, specialising in delivering transformative technology solutions with industry-leading client experience across business, public sector and not for profit organisations.

Focus of the role: As an Azure Engineer on BCN’s Azure Managed Services, you will act as a technical contact and trusted advisor for a portfolio of cloud customers. Combining strong Azure engineering expertise with excellent customer relationship skills, you will help organisations maximise the value of their Azure investment whilst maintaining secure, resilient, scalable, and cost-effective cloud environments. You will provide technical guidance, identify opportunities for optimisation and improvement, lead customer-facing engagements, and drive hands-on delivery of changes that improve performance, security, resilience, and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary Azure technical contact and trusted advisor for a portfolio of managed cloud customers.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular service reviews and technical workshops.
  • Develop an understanding of customer environments, business objectives, key workloads, and cloud strategies.
  • Provide expert guidance on Azure infrastructure, cloud adoption, security, governance, resilience, and operational best practices.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve customer environments through optimisation, automation, modernisation, and technical change.
  • Lead Azure optimisation initiatives, including rightsizing, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, storage optimisation, and cost governance recommendations.
  • Deliver hands-on Azure engineering changes and technical improvements across customer environments.
  • Implement, manage, and optimise Azure Virtual Desktop environments and Nerdio solutions.
  • Act as the technical lead during critical incidents, coordinating with internal teams, third-party vendors, and Microsoft to achieve rapid resolution.
  • Support customers in adopting Microsoft best practices, including the Cloud Adoption Framework and Well-Architected Framework principles.

Person, Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting and managing Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Strong customer-facing experience with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence technical decision-making.
  • Experience conducting customer workshops and technical reviews.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure infrastructure services, networking, storage, backup, monitoring, governance, and security.
  • Proven ability to identify and implement cost optimisation and cloud efficiency improvements.
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting complex Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Hands-on experience delivering Azure changes and improvements.
  • Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) implementations and optimisation.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft's Cloud Adoption Framework and Well-Architected Framework.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
  • Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, or equivalent would be advantageous.

What success looks like:

  • Customers view you as a trusted advisor and strategic partner.
  • Azure environments become more secure, resilient, efficient, and cost-effective over time.
  • Improvement opportunities are proactively identified.
  • Azure costs are actively managed and optimised.
  • Customer satisfaction, retention, and Azure adoption remain consistently high.
  • BCN is recognised as a technology partner rather than simply a support provider.

  • Competitive salary with the ability to progress.
  • 23-days holiday allowance, increasing with length of service, plus bank holidays, an extra day off on your birthday and the option to buy more!

How to prepare for a job interview at BCN Group Ltd

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

When discussing your experiences, focus not just on the tech solutions you implemented, but also on their business impact. Employers want to see that you can connect IT with organisational goals. Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
