BCMGlobal Mortgage Services are seeking a highly motivated Litigation Officer to join our Banking & Credit Management team. In this pivotal role, you will manage residential mortgage accounts in arrears that are progressing through litigation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of accounts through the litigation and term expiry process, by making outbound calls and handling inbound calls from customers in arrears, analysing their circumstances to find the best solution for their account.
- Ensure that customers are fully informed of payment obligations and payments are collected in line with the lender’s terms and conditions, along with any Court Orders agreed.
- Understand the terms and conditions of a borrower’s loan and ensure clear communication of these to the borrower.
- Report any issues proactively, making recommendations and offering balanced, technical opinions when analysing a borrowers circumstances.
- Adhere to processes and delegated authorities set by BCM and their clients.
- Liaise professionally with clients, third parties, and internal departments.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date information on customers and loans within BCM’s systems.
- Meet all quality and performance-related targets.
- Assist with projects as directed by the Team Leader, meeting deadlines, and achieving objectives.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Experience in mortgage debt collection, including dealing with loans in default at expiry.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer-focused with the ability to find effective solutions for borrowers, internal clients, and external clients.
- Knowledge of mortgage loan documentation and understanding of applicable regulations/codes governing the financial services industry.
- Understanding of financial budgets and the UK Benefits System.
- Ability to work well within a team, supporting colleagues and delivering on commitments.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in litigation.
- Knowledge of court documentation and procedures.
- A Law degree.
- Full CeMAP qualification.
