The Senior Executive, Marketing & Business Development will provide high-level marketing and business development support within assigned practice groups, working closely with Business Development Directors, Associate Directors, partners, fee earners, professional staff and wider Marketing teams. The role supports the development and implementation of marketing and business development plans, helping the team deliver excellent results by identifying opportunities, strengthening client connections and supporting business growth within priority areas.

The role involves contributing to strategic initiatives, supporting business development campaigns, managing pitches and proposals, coordinating events and delivering marketing activities while ensuring best practice approaches are followed across all projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level support on the development and implementation of marketing and business development plans for assigned departments and practice groups.
  • Liaise with lawyers and key stakeholders, attending and leading meetings or calls where required to identify business development opportunities and align initiatives with wider business strategies.
  • Support regional, practice, sector and client-focused programmes, as well as wider business development initiatives, including global and cross-practice projects.
  • Coordinate end-to-end practice group RFPs and proposals, ensuring best practice approaches are followed, including the management and production of pitches and capability statements.
  • Track and monitor pitch and proposal activity to analyse success rates and support future business development opportunities.
  • Compile competitive intelligence and conduct market research to support marketing campaigns and business development initiatives.
  • Provide practice-specific content for firmwide pitches, panels and other business development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and relevant teams to support practice group-related tasks and initiatives across different regions.
  • Drive the delivery of seminars, conferences, webinars and other events, overseeing or fully organising events depending on requirements.
  • Support brand profiling projects, including sponsorships, thought leadership initiatives and other marketing campaigns.
  • Support internal and external communications, including PR opportunities, website content and social media activity.
  • Coordinate and implement processes for directory and awards submissions, including drafting content and managing submission processes.
  • Assist with the production and delivery of marketing collateral, including brochures, newsletters, briefings, blogs and other marketing materials.
  • Develop familiarity with and actively use business development and marketing systems, including Foundation, Dynamics and Vuture.
  • Delegate appropriate tasks to central Marketing teams to support efficient project delivery.
  • Ensure best practices are followed, identify opportunities to improve efficiency and share knowledge of industry trends and competitive markets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support marketing and business development objectives.

Skills and Experience

  • Degree educated, with a Marketing or CIM-related qualification desirable.
  • Experience within a marketing or business development environment is required, ideally within a professional services environment.
  • Legal industry knowledge and experience within an assigned practice group is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong experience working on pitch proposals, RFPs and capability statements.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce consistently high-quality work.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, multi-task effectively and work to tight deadlines.
  • Proven project management, organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt quickly to changing business requirements.
  • Professional, confident and comfortable working with individuals at all levels of seniority.
  • Enthusiastic approach with a willingness to learn and contribute ideas.
  • Proven ability to think creatively, use good judgement and demonstrate effective decision-making capabilities.
