This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the early stages of their accounting or finance career who is looking to develop their skills working within a leading law firm.
The role supports the firm’s global partnership accounting and partner finance activities, including partner account reconciliations, profit allocations, capital management and partner payments. The position involves regular internal interaction with Partners and close collaboration with colleagues in the UK and US.
About the Team
The team supports all aspects of partnership accounting across the firm globally. This includes partner services, calculation and payment of partner profit allocations, management of partnership capital and related loans, tax reserving, and the reconciliation and analysis of partner accounts.
Key Relationships
The Partnership Accounting and Tax team is split between the US and UK and sits within the wider Finance Department. The successful candidate will work closely with the two other Coordinators, two Senior Partnership Accountants, the Partner Accounting Senior Manager and the Global Partnership Tax and Payroll Director. They will also work with the Partnership Tax team, and will need to build good relationships with the Financial Controllers, the Financial Accounting team and the Cash Operations team.
Key Responsibilities
- Working closely with experienced Partnership Accounting professionals, you will assist the team with a range of global partner accounting processes, including but not limited to the following tasks:
- The role will have responsibility for multi-currency cash and accrual account reconciliations to Elite 3E in transaction, unit and firm currencies, along with performing global accounting procedures and tasks that are unique to Partners.
- Supporting the Partnership Accounting and Tax team with detailed partner accounting and tax reconciliations.
- Reconciling individual partner accounts to cash and accrual balances in Elite 3E across transaction, unit and firm currencies.
- Consolidating accounting reports, reviewing balances and preparing and posting multi currency journals in Elite 3E.
- Preparing and posting journals relating to profit allocations, tax reserves, drawings, capital, interest and partner deductions.
- Assisting with partner services, including the calculation and processing of partner payments.
- Supporting the annual capital call process, including loan finance drawdowns and capital repayments.
- Assisting with induction meetings for new partners, explaining capital requirements and related processes.
- Providing cover for key tasks when the Partner Accounting Coordinators are out of the office and supporting colleagues during peak periods.
- Assisting with audit requests and accounting queries relating to partners.
- Providing ad hoc support to senior members of the team as required.
Skills, Experience & Knowledge Required
- Previous experience in a professional services environment or accounting role is desirable but not essential.
- Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are essential.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
