A leading UK law firm is seeking an Associate or Senior Associate to join its top-ranked Real Estate Disputes team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a property litigation lawyer who is looking to advance their career in one of the country\’s most respected property litigation practices.

The team is widely recognised for its expertise across residential and commercial property disputes, handling matters for individual clients, investors, developers, and large land‑owning organisations. The practice combines high‑value, complex litigation with day‑to‑day dispute resolution, offering exposure to a broad spectrum of real estate issues.

About the Team

The Real Estate Disputes team is Tier 1 ranked and led by highly regarded partners with extensive experience in complex litigation, development disputes, and portfolio management. You will be joining a 30‑strong team of specialist litigators, working on matters ranging from residential landlord and tenant disputes to high‑value commercial litigation, including development risk management, vacant possession strategies, and contractual disputes.

The team is known for its strategic, client‑focused approach, often resolving disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or expert determination, with litigation pursued as a last resort. High‑profile trials and complex portfolio disputes provide excellent career development for ambitious solicitors.

The Role

You will be an integral part of the team, managing your own caseload and providing expert support on a variety of residential and commercial property disputes. While the primary focus is residential, commercial property dispute experience will be highly valued. Candidates with experience under the Building Safety Act will be particularly welcome.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act on residential and commercial property disputes, including leasehold issues, service charge disputes, possession claims, and contractual disputes
  • Advise on development and investment disputes, including high‑value portfolios and trophy assets
  • Lead and manage matters from inception to resolution, including litigation, mediation, arbitration, and other alternative dispute resolution mechanisms
  • Draft pleadings, agreements, and settlement documentation, and represent clients in negotiations and court proceedings
  • Identify and mitigate legal risk early to avoid litigation where possible
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing strategic guidance on complex real estate issues
  • Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, contributing to the development of the team

The Candidate

  • A qualified solicitor with 3‑8 years’ PQE in real estate disputes from a top‑tier or recognised City firm
  • Experience in residential property litigation, with commercial property dispute experience desirable
  • Confident handling complex matters and working autonomously
  • Demonstrate strong drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills
  • Excellent client‑facing skills and commercial awareness
  • Proactive, strategic, and solutions‑focused, with a meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience in the Building Safety Act or high‑value development disputes is advantageous but not essential
