Our client is a well known regional law firm, recognised for offering advice on a broad range of commercial services. The firm's construction and engineering team provide comprehensive advice covering everything from procurement and contract services to dispute resolution, working across every aspect of construction and engineering, including infrastructure, energy and public procurement.

The team works with a diverse range of private sector clients - including developers, contractors, specialist sub-contractors, professional consultants and funders - as well as public and third sector organisations such as local authorities, charities, schools, academies, colleges and universities.

The Role

Our client is now looking to appoint a new construction partner to bolster the team immediately, and take on a role of head of department in the near future. Ideally, candidates will already be operating at partner level and have a following (or contacts) to bring with them. However, applications from those in senior associate and director roles who are looking to step up to partnership will also be considered. An emphasis on contentious construction work is required, although additional non-contentious experience would also be welcome.

The Candidate

Candidates should be well connected within the construction industry and, as a senior member of the team, must be able to use strong business development and networking skills to help to grow and develop business further. You should be technically strong, and as a trusted adviser able to deliver practical and commercial advice. As a senior leader within the firm, you will also need to reflect its core values - demonstrating empathy, collaboration and innovation, and above all, being approachable. It is essential that you are people-focused and keen to assist with the development of others, and help to build the team over time.
