A $1bn+ Financing Platform Growing a Successful Team. A V5 firm in New York is continuing to expand its financing group, following a year in which the team alone generated well over $1bn in revenue, driven by sustained demand across private credit, leveraged finance and capital structure mandates. This is an off-market search, with the group making a small number of key associate hires at the 2020-2024 class level, focused on individuals who can operate within a partner-led, high-responsibility environment.
Within the current market, where many financing teams remain product-siloed or execution-heavy, this platform offers a different model, combining core leveraged finance and private credit work with exposure across broader corporate and transactional disciplines through an integrated General Practice structure.
Job Purpose
You will support a market-leading financing team advising sponsors, credit funds, corporates and financial institutions on private credit and leveraged finance transactions, while developing exposure to how these transactions interact across capital structure, restructuring and wider corporate mandates.
What You'll Do
- You will work directly with private equity sponsors, credit funds including Apollo, Blackstone and Ares, corporate borrowers and financial institutions on private credit transactions, leveraged financings and liability management exercises, acting across borrower and lender-side mandates and engaging with how capital is structured across bank-led and private capital solutions.
- As transactions progress, you will draft and negotiate key documentation, coordinate with teams across financing, restructuring, capital markets and corporate practices, and support matters from structuring through execution, gaining visibility into how financing decisions connect with M&A activity, governance considerations and broader strategic outcomes, while working closely with partners who lead these mandates end-to-end and maintaining direct client exposure throughout.
What You'll Need
- JD from an ABA accredited U.S. law school
- Admission to the NY Bar
- 2020-2024 class year (JD or equivalent)
- Experience in leveraged finance, private credit or related transactional work
- Exposure to sponsor-side, borrower-side or lender-side mandates
- Strong drafting, structuring and analytical skills
About the Firm
A V5 U.S. law firm with a financing group generating over $1bn annually, advising across private credit, leveraged finance, restructuring and capital markets. The group is known for operating across the full capital structure, with an integrated model that allows associates to build depth in their chosen discipline while gaining broader corporate & finance experience.
Perks
- Exposure to leading private equity sponsors, credit funds and global financial institutions
- Direct involvement in high-value financing and capital structure matters
- Cross-practice collaboration across financing, restructuring and corporate teams
- International deal exposure across key markets
- Development within a top-tier associate cohort
Why This Role Matters
This role offers the opportunity to join a top-tier financing platform at a point of sustained growth, where demand is being driven by complex, high-value transactions across both private capital and traditional financing markets. Rather than operating within a narrow product line, you will gain exposure to how financing transactions evolve across different capital structures, stakeholder groups and strategic scenarios, building a more complete and commercially grounded skillset. The structure of the team, combined with close partner involvement and direct client exposure, supports your development, ultimately positioning you to become a generalist attorney with the kind of experience only the most elite firms can offer.
