BCL Legal is pleased to be acting on behalf of a highly regarded national law firm in the recruitment of an Associate to join its established Real Estate (Affordable Housing) team in Leeds. This opportunity offers the chance to join a respected practice advising registered providers and local authorities on a broad range of high-quality, non-contentious property and development matters. There is also the opportunity to work on broader commercial property matters alongside development work too.

Responsibilities

  • Turnkey property acquisitions
  • Acquisitions and disposals of housing stock and land
  • Development and regeneration transactions
  • Commercial leases, including grants, variations and surrenders
  • Licences to occupy
  • Easements and rights over land
  • Variations of agreements, rights and covenants
  • Funding arrangements and plot sales

The team is seeking a lawyer with a minimum of 4 years’ PQE and strong experience in general property transactions and development work. Experience within the affordable housing or social housing sector would be advantageous, although candidates from a broader commercial property background with relevant transactional experience are also encouraged to apply. The role will suit a commercially minded and technically strong lawyer who is capable of managing transactions with an appropriate degree of autonomy, while also supporting and supervising junior team members. The successful individual will be confident building relationships with registered providers, local authorities, and other key stakeholders.

The position is based in Leeds and offers hybrid working, with approximately 40% office attendance required to support collaboration and supervision within the team and maintain proximity to key Yorkshire-based clients.
