BCL Legal is delighted to be working with a leading international law firm in its search for a Principal Associate to join its market-leading non-contentious Construction & Engineering team. This opportunity offers the chance to work on complex, high-value energy and infrastructure projects in a dynamic, supportive environment with hybrid and regional flexibility.
The Role
As a Principal Associate, you will:
· Advise a high-calibre client base on large-scale domestic and international construction and engineering projects.
· Deliver strategic advice on procurement strategy, contract drafting, and negotiation.
· Work with key industry-standard forms including NEC, FIDIC, iChemE, and JCT.
· Play a leading role in mentoring junior colleagues and sharing technical expertise within the team.
· Drive business development initiatives and contribute to the strategic growth of the practice.
· Collaborate with lawyers across other offices and disciplines on major cross-border mandates.
About You
We are looking for a Principal Associate with:
· 7+ years\’ PQE in non-contentious construction law, ideally within an international or national firm however those from strong regional construction teams will also be considered.
· Strong experience acting on energy, infrastructure, or complex built environment projects.
· Familiarity with standard form contracts such as NEC, FIDIC, and bespoke agreements.
· Commercial acumen, solution-oriented thinking, and the ability to simplify complex legal matters for clients.
· A track record of supervising junior lawyers and an interest in team leadership and development.
· A proactive, collaborative mindset with experience of and appetite for client relationship management and business development.
