BCL Legal is pleased to be working with a leading international law firm in their search for a Senior or Principal Associate to join their top-tier Regeneration team, which sits within their wider Residential Development group in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in some of the most significant and complex housing and regeneration schemes in the UK, advising both public and private sector clients.

The Role

  • Advise on large-scale, residential-led regeneration schemes that often include mixed-use elements, covering areas such as acquisitions, site assembly, development agreements, joint ventures, and project structuring.
  • Work with a diverse client base, including developers, housebuilders, local authorities, government bodies, and institutional investors.
  • Manage complex land and development transactions, offering strategic legal advice throughout the entire lifecycle of a project.
  • Gain experience in public sector law, including procurement, governance, and public funding; prior knowledge in these areas is not essential.
  • Play a central role in delivering long-term and high-impact regeneration initiatives.
  • Support and supervise junior team members, while contributing to the growth and development of the wider practice.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines such as planning, construction, corporate, and tax to provide integrated solutions to clients.

Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of 3 years' PQE in commercial property, development, or a closely related real estate field.
  • A strong interest in regeneration and the ambition to build a long-term career in this area.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with confidence in handling complex development structures.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.
  • A client-focused approach and a passion for contributing to large-scale development projects that drive long-term change.
