We are working with a highly regarded Top 60 UK law firm seeking an experienced Private Client Partner to join its thriving Birmingham office. This is an exceptional opportunity to play a leading role within one of the UK's largest Private Client teams, helping to grow and shape the firm's Private Client offering across the West Midlands.
The Role
- Lead the development of the Birmingham Private Client practice, advising high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families and landed estates on a broad range of private wealth matters.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the growing West Midlands Private Client team.
- Advise clients on wills, trusts, estate planning, succession planning, probate and lasting powers of attorney.
- Act for HNW and UHNW individuals, business families and landed estates with complex UK and international asset structures.
- Deliver advice on tax‑efficient wealth preservation, succession and long‑term planning strategies.
- Handle trust creation, administration and wider estate management matters.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across corporate, property, family and wider private wealth teams to deliver holistic client solutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, intermediaries and referrers.
- Mentor, supervise and develop junior lawyers within the team.
- Play a key role in business development, networking and raising the firm's profile in the regional market.
- Contribute to the wider strategic growth of the national Private Client practice.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor with significant experience in Private Client law.
- Strong technical knowledge across wills, trusts, estate administration and succession planning.
- Experience advising HNW and UHNW clients with complex asset structures, family wealth or international elements.
- A proven track record in business development and client relationship management.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to grow and develop teams.
- Excellent drafting, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence in client‑facing situations.
- Commercially aware and able to deliver pragmatic, client‑focused advice.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage a busy and varied caseload.
Desirable Skills
- STEP qualification or membership of relevant professional bodies.
- Experience advising landed estates, agricultural clients or family business owners.
- Exposure to international private wealth and cross‑border succession matters.
- Existing client following or strong referrer network in the West Midlands region.
