An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Corporate Solicitor (NQ-3 years PQE) to join a highly regarded and growing corporate team in Newcastle. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor looking to build their career in a commercially focused, entrepreneurial environment, working alongside experienced corporate lawyers and gaining meaningful exposure to clients and transactions from an early stage.
The successful candidate will work with a diverse client base ranging from entrepreneurs and growing businesses to established corporates, advising across a broad spectrum of corporate matters. The team takes a practical approach to legal advice, taking the time to understand each client's business, objectives and commercial drivers and delivering solutions that are clear, pragmatic and commercially relevant.
You will have the opportunity to develop experience across a varied corporate caseload, including:
- Mergers and acquisitions, including acquisitions and disposals
- Corporate investments and fundraising
- Shareholders' agreements and shareholder arrangements
- Corporate reorganisations and restructurings
- Management buyouts and employee ownership matters
- Joint ventures
- Corporate governance and compliance
- Incorporations and company secretarial work
- Due diligence and transaction management
- Succession planning and business sales
- Supporting clients through the full lifecycle of their businesses
The role will involve working closely with senior lawyers and other professional advisers, including accountants and corporate finance specialists, giving the successful candidate excellent exposure to the wider commercial aspects of transactions. Client exposure is encouraged from a junior level, so there is plenty of opportunity for the successful candidate to attend networking and business development events, building your own client base from day one.
You will be encouraged to develop strong client relationships, take ownership of their work and become increasingly involved in transactions and client matters. There will be plenty of opportunity to learn from experienced corporate practitioners while developing a profile and reputation of your own.
The Corporate team works across a broad range of sectors, including technology, manufacturing, finance and banking, digital, life sciences, energy and professional services, meaning no two matters are likely to be the same.
The successful candidate is likely to be:
- A qualified solicitor with NQ to 3 years' PQE in corporate law
- Able to demonstrate experience or a strong interest in corporate transactional work
- Commercially minded, with an understanding that good legal advice needs to work for the client and their business
- Confident communicating with clients and other professional advisers
- Practical and solutions-focused, with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working as part of a collaborative team while taking responsibility for their own matters
- Ambitious and keen to develop their technical expertise and client-facing skills
