A leading international law firm is looking to recruit a Solicitor or Associate (1-6 PQE) to join its growing Commercial Real Estate team in Newcastle, with flexibility for candidates based elsewhere in the North East or those looking to relocate back to the region. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded real estate lawyer to join a nationally recognised team working on high-profile development, investment and occupier matters for major clients across the UK.

The role would particularly suit lawyers currently in London, Leeds, Manchester or other larger markets who are originally from the North East and looking to combine top-quality work with a move closer to home, family or a better quality of life. The team advises an impressive client base including developers, institutional investors, large corporate occupiers, universities, local authorities and government bodies. Work includes acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant matters, development projects, strategic regeneration schemes and portfolio management.

Lawyers are also given the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across planning, construction, corporate, finance and procurement teams on complex, multi-disciplinary matters. Due to continued growth, new panel appointments and significant client wins, the team is expanding and offers genuine opportunities for progression, responsibility and long-term career development within a collaborative and supportive environment.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a qualified solicitor with 1-6 years' PQE in commercial real estate
  • Have experience gained at a respected regional, national or international firm
  • Be confident handling acquisitions, disposals, landlord and tenant work and general transactional matters
  • Enjoy building strong client relationships and delivering commercially focused advice
  • Be keen to take on responsibility and develop their profile within a growing practice
  • Value a collegiate culture with high-quality supervision and mentoring

In return, the firm offers:

  • High‑calibre, nationally significant work without the pressure often associated with City firms
  • A strong platform for progression and professional development
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
  • A genuinely supportive and collaborative culture
  • The chance to build a long‑term career in the North East while remaining involved in sophisticated, complex real estate matters

For lawyers with roots in the North East, this is a rare opportunity to return to the region without compromising on the quality of work, clients or career trajectory.
