A leading international law firm is looking to appoint a talented Real Estate Solicitor to join its growing Public Law and Projects team in Newcastle. This is an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor who enjoys tackling complex legal challenges, thinking creatively and working on projects that make a genuine difference to communities across the UK. Driven by continued success in the public sector, the team is experiencing significant growth and is advising on an increasing number of high‑profile and nationally important projects.
The firm welcomes applications from candidates seeking either full‑time or part‑time opportunities and operates a flexible hybrid working model. The Public Law and Projects team advises on a broad range of public-sector‑led developments and infrastructure projects across England and Wales. Its work spans regeneration, housing, education, energy and public services infrastructure, often involving innovative and complex delivery structures. The team brings together specialists from multiple disciplines, combining technical expertise with a collaborative and solutions‑focused approach.
Lawyers within the team are encouraged to think creatively and work closely with colleagues to deliver tailored, commercially focused advice to clients. The team also shares a strong commitment to projects that create meaningful social value and positively impact local communities. The successful candidate will join a nationally recognised real estate practice and work alongside leading specialists, on a broad range of complex transactions with a strong public sector focus.
Role responsibilitiesThe role will involve advising on matters including:
- Large-scale regeneration and development schemes
- Infrastructure and public services projects
- Energy and heat network developments
- PFI and partnership projects
- Transactions involving procurement, subsidy control and wider public law considerations
This is a varied and intellectually stimulating position offering high levels of client exposure, responsibility and excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to business development initiatives, support client relationship management and assist in mentoring junior team members.
Candidate requirementsApplications are welcomed from qualified solicitors with strong real estate experience and an interest in public sector projects. Previous public sector experience would be advantageous but is not essential. The firm is particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate commercial awareness, strong technical ability and a genuine enthusiasm for the sector.
Key requirements include:- Qualified solicitor with the right to practise in England & Wales
- Ideally 3+ years’ PQE with experience across a broad range of real estate transactions
- Strong technical, drafting and analytical skills
- Ability to manage matters independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- A proactive and commercially minded approach
- Interest in business development and client relationship management
