The Public Law & Human Rights team specialises in mental capacity, deprivation of liberty, and health and welfare disputes in the Court of Protection. The department is consistently recognised in leading legal directories for its expertise in Court of Protection health and welfare work, acting on behalf of vulnerable adults and their families.

An opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor to join the Newcastle-based team, supporting a dedicated Court of Protection Health & Welfare caseload. The successful candidate will work alongside highly experienced practitioners on a range of complex and meaningful cases involving vulnerable adults.

Caseload

  • Section 21A challenges to deprivation of liberty
  • Best interests applications relating to residence, care, contact, and medical treatment
  • Capacity disputes
  • Safeguarding and risk‑related matters
  • Supporting vulnerable clients with complex needs

Experience

  • NQ‑4 years PQE
  • Court of Protection (Health & Welfare) matters
  • Mental capacity law
  • Working with vulnerable adults
