An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Associate to join a highly regarded Government & Infrastructure team at a leading UK law firm. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious solicitor looking to work on high profile public sector projects, advising a broad range of government and public sector clients on complex commercial matters. This role offers exposure to some of the UK's most significant public sector projects, providing strategic legal advice across public procurement, subsidy control, commercial contracts, regeneration, governance and public law.
As a Senior Associate, you will advise a diverse portfolio of clients including central government departments, local authorities, arm's length bodies, regional authorities, wholly owned companies and public‑private partnerships. You'll also support suppliers contracting with government, providing commercially focused advice on procurement and regulatory matters. The team is known for delivering innovative legal solutions on complex public sector projects and offers a collaborative environment where lawyers are encouraged to develop their expertise across multiple disciplines rather than working within a narrow specialism.
Your work will include:
- Advising public sector organisations on a wide range of commercial and governance matters.
- Providing strategic advice on public procurement under the Procurement Act 2023.
- Advising on subsidy control and the design and implementation of compliant subsidy schemes.
- Drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts and high‑value public sector agreements.
- Advising on grant funding arrangements, including drafting grant agreements and funding documentation.
- Supporting major regeneration and infrastructure projects involving procurement, governance and commercial arrangements.
- Advising on corporate governance issues affecting public bodies and their subsidiary companies.
- Managing complex client matters from instruction through to completion.
- Building strong client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives.
- Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers within the team.
