A fast-growing technology company is looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to join their team. This individual will play a critical role in managing the company\’s legal operations, focusing on Intellectual Property (IP), data privacy, and commercial transactions. If they have expertise in drafting and negotiating contracts, developing IP strategies, and ensuring global data privacy compliance, this could be an exciting opportunity.
What the Role Involves:
- Leading & Negotiating: Overseeing complex commercial transactions, including B2B licensing agreements, SaaS contracts, NDAs, and strategic partnerships with customers, vendors, and partners.
- Developing IP Strategies: Taking ownership of the company\’s IP strategy, including trademarks, patents, licensing, and open-source compliance.
- Data Privacy Compliance: Advising on data privacy and data protection regulations across multiple jurisdictions, including the US (CCPA, CPRA, HIPAA), EU (GDPR), and other international laws.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Providing legal advice to and working closely with teams across Sales, Marketing, HR, Engineering, and Product to align legal support with business goals.
- Risk & Compliance: Conducting risk assessments and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) to help mitigate privacy and security risks and improve compliance programs.
- Streamlining Legal Processes: Improving templates, playbooks, forms, and policies to optimize contract negotiations and standardize legal terms.
Skills & Experience Needed:
- 5+ years of in-house legal experience, preferably at a SaaS or technology company.
- Strong knowledge of privacy and data protection laws, including CCPA, CPRA, HIPAA, GDPR, and other international regulations.
- Expertise in managing commercial tech transactions, including B2B licensing, SaaS agreements, and strategic partnerships.
- Familiarity with open-source licensing models and compliance.
- A proven ability to advise on product development while ensuring data protection compliance.
- Exceptional drafting, communication, and collaboration skills.
- A proactive mindset for improving legal processes, templates, and policies.
- Demonstrated ability to drive scalability and operational excellence in a legal environment.
