Environmental Lawyer - Senior Associate/Legal Director 5+ PQE | Leading internationational Law Firm | Birmingham/Hybrid Working (AW/175075) BCL Legal is delighted to be working with a leading international law firm in its search for a Senior Associate or Legal Director to join its specialist Environment team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to join a nationally recognised practice advising on high-profile environmental and sustainability matters across a broad range of sectors. This role offers a diverse mix of transactional, advisory, and contentious work, with exposure to complex matters spanning real estate, corporate, finance, infrastructure, and major projects. You will also be involved in regulatory investigations and enforcement work, making this a well-rounded position with real impact. The Opportunity This is a chance to join a growing and highly regarded Environment team with a strong reputation in both advisory and contentious environmental law. The team plays a key role in supporting national and international transactions, as well as advising clients on compliance, risk, and sustainability strategy. You will work closely with experienced colleagues across multiple disciplines, gaining direct client exposure and the opportunity to develop within a collaborative and forward-thinking team. The role offers clear progression pathways and structured development within a sustainability-focused practice. What You’ll Be Doing · Advising on a broad range of environmental matters, both contentious and non-contentious · Supporting environmental aspects of corporate, real estate, finance, and infrastructure transactions · Conducting environmental due diligence and advising on associated risks · Assisting with regulatory investigations and enforcement actions · Advising on environmental compliance, permitting, and policy development · Representing clients in dealings with regulators, including the Environment Agency · Drafting and negotiating environmental provisions in commercial agreements · Collaborating with colleagues across corporate, real estate, and projects teams · Contributing to business development initiatives and thought leadership About You We’re keen to hear from candidates who: · Are qualified solicitors with at least 5 years' experience in environmental law · Have a strong background in contentious and/or non-contentious environmental matters · Have experience handling regulatory investigations and engaging with regulators · Possess solid knowledge of environmental regimes (e.g. waste, contaminated land, permitting, nuisance, chemicals, and producer responsibility) · Can provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice · Are confident working with a range of stakeholders, including corporates and individuals · Enjoy working collaboratively across teams and disciplines · Are proactive and motivated to develop their expertise in a growing area of law Why Join This Firm?
