This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled litigator with a passion for advocacy to join a leading team in Nottingham, where you will play a pivotal role in a diverse mix of contentious and non-contentious employment work - with a particular emphasis on contentious matters.

The Role

In this dynamic role, you'll be at the forefront of complex and high-profile employment law cases, offering expert legal advice and representing clients in tribunal and court. Your work will span across a variety of contentious and advisory areas, with a focus on litigation, including advocacy. The team handles some of the most challenging and high-stakes matters in the employment law space, including:

  • Discrimination Claims: Advising on and litigating claims in the tribunal and High Court.
  • Whistleblowing: Representing both employers and employees in contentious whistleblowing disputes.
  • Equal Pay: Handling complex and large-scale equal pay claims for major clients.
  • Contentious Advisory Work: Providing robust and strategic advice in relation to contentious workplace matters, often involving senior executives and high-net-worth individuals.

You’ll have the chance to work with a collaborative and supportive team, gaining exposure to a broad range of matters and high-calibre clients, including blue-chip corporations, public sector organisations, and executives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting and managing employment litigation cases, with a particular focus on advocacy and litigation in both tribunal and High Court.
  • Providing strategic, commercial, and pragmatic advice on a wide range of contentious employment matters.
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents, including pleadings and witness statements.
  • Representing clients in hearings, tribunals, and mediations, ensuring top-tier client service and advocacy.
  • Supporting the team in the development of thought leadership and business development initiatives.

The Candidate

We're seeking a highly motivated Employment Solicitor or Barrister with at least 5 years of experience in employment law, ideally with a strong background in litigation and advocacy. The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong advocacy skills, with experience representing clients in employment tribunals and courts.
  • A proactive and commercial approach to problem-solving and client management.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, but also independently with minimal supervision.
  • A desire to further develop in a fast-paced and intellectually stimulating environment.
