An established and growing legal practice on the Wirral is seeking an experienced Conveyancer / Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to join its team. This is a key dual-role position combining fee‑earning residential conveyancing work with responsibility for overseeing and maintaining the firm’s anti‑money laundering (AML) compliance framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Conveyancing Duties
- Manage a full caseload of residential conveyancing matters from instruction through to completion
- Handle sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, and leasehold transactions
- Provide clear, practical advice to clients and maintain strong client relationships
- Liaise with agents, lenders, and other solicitors to ensure smooth progression of transactions
- Ensure files are managed efficiently and in line with regulatory and internal standards
- Act as the firm’s appointed MLRO and oversee AML compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain AML policies, controls, and procedures
- Review and assess suspicious activity reports (SARs) and determine appropriate action
- Ensure compliance with current AML legislation and regulatory requirements
- Deliver internal training and guidance on AML and compliance matters
- Conduct file audits and risk assessments
- Act as a point of contact for regulatory bodies where required
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer, or experienced non‑qualified conveyancer with a strong track record
- Proven experience managing a residential conveyancing caseload independently
- Solid understanding of AML regulations and compliance obligations
- Previous MLRO or compliance experience preferred (or readiness to step into the role)
- Strong attention to detail and risk awareness
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
