Construction Associate (Non-Contentious) | London
We\’re working with a highly regarded City law firm that is looking to grow its Construction team with the addition of a talented Associate (Non-Contentious). This is an outstanding opportunity to work directly alongside an experienced partner on a broad range of complex commercial and residential development projects, with a particular focus on the rapidly expanding life sciences sector.
The Role:
This is a hands-on and developmental role where you\’ll be advising a high-calibre client base on the full spectrum of construction matters, including:
– Drafting and negotiating building contracts, professional appointments, warranties, guarantees, and bonds
– Advising on construction provisions in development agreements, agreements for lease, finance documents, and sale and purchase agreements
– Supporting real estate, corporate, and finance teams with construction due diligence on transactions
– Providing construction phase advisory services to help clients avoid and mitigate disputes
– Playing an active role in the business development of the Construction team – including article writing, blog contributions, and client meetings
You\’ll work as part of a tight-knit team, benefitting from direct exposure to clients and partners, and developing commercial insight that will position you for long-term success.
The Ideal Candidate:
– NQ-5 years\’ post-qualification experience with a focus on non-contentious construction law
– Experience in drafting and negotiating construction contracts (JCT, NEC, etc.) and associated documentation
– Familiarity with development projects, ideally including the life sciences, commercial, or residential sectors
– Strong attention to detail and a commercial, pragmatic approach to legal problem-solving
– A genuine interest in developing your practice and contributing to the team\’s profile through thought leadership and client engagement
