BCL Legal is delighted to be working with a leading global law firm in its search for an Associate or Senior Associate to join its growing Regulatory Compliance & Investigations (Corporate Crime) team in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a nationally recognised practice advising on complex, high-profile economic crime matters across a broad range of sectors. This role offers exposure to a diverse mix of contentious and non-contentious work, supporting major clients on enforcement, internal investigations, compliance, and crisis response. You will work closely with senior leadership, including the Head of Corporate Crime, while gaining valuable exposure to key regulators and stakeholders.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and expanding Corporate Crime team with a strong national and international presence. The team is known for its expertise in economic crime and regulatory matters, acting for clients across a wide range of industries. You will take on a varied caseload of complex, high-value matters, while also playing a key role in client development, thought leadership, and mentoring junior lawyers. The position offers genuine scope for progression within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing a caseload of complex regulatory, compliance, and investigations work, both contentious and non-contentious.
  • Advising clients on economic crime, regulatory compliance, and enforcement matters.
  • Supporting internal investigations and crisis response strategies.
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders, including partners and the Head of Corporate Crime.
  • Keeping up to date with developments in economic crime legislation and regulatory law, sharing knowledge across the team.
  • Playing an active role in business development, including writing articles, delivering seminars, and building client relationships.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior fee earners, supporting their development and progression.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across practice areas to deliver integrated, commercial advice.

About You

  • Are qualified solicitors with 4+ years' PQE and strong experience in economic crime and/or regulatory investigations.
  • Have a solid background in criminal litigation and a good understanding of the criminal justice system and regulatory landscape.
  • Can deliver technically excellent, commercially focused advice.
  • Are confident working with limited supervision on complex matters.
  • Demonstrate strong client relationship and business development skills.
  • Enjoy mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to team growth.
  • Are proactive, collaborative, and keen to develop their expertise further.
