BCL Legal is delighted to be working with a leading UK law firm on the recruitment of a Senior or Principal Associate to join its market-leading Housing & Regeneration team. This is an outstanding opportunity to join one of the UK's fastest-growing real estate practices, advising registered providers, developers and funders on complex, high-value affordable housing and residential development transactions.

The Opportunity

You will join a nationally recognised Housing & Regeneration team with an excellent reputation for advising on some of the UK's most significant affordable housing and regeneration schemes. Working alongside highly regarded partners and specialists, you will play a key role in delivering complex development projects while enjoying a high level of client responsibility from the outset.

Your role will include:

  • Advising registered providers, developers and funders on a broad range of affordable housing and residential development matters
  • Acting on affordable housing development transactions, including Section 106 acquisitions, golden brick, turnkey and package deals
  • Advising on strategic land acquisitions and disposals
  • Drafting and negotiating conditional contracts, option agreements, promotion agreements, overage and collaboration agreements
  • Advising on leasehold structures, funding arrangements and portfolio management matters
  • Managing transactions from instruction through to completion
  • Acting as the day-to-day contact for clients, providing commercially focused and pragmatic advice
  • Working closely with developers, registered providers and other stakeholders to deliver transactions efficiently
  • Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers within the team
  • Supporting business development initiatives and strengthening long-term client relationships

You’ll become part of a collaborative and ambitious team recognised for its expertise across the affordable housing and regeneration sector.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • 5+ PQE with strong experience in residential development, affordable housing or commercial real estate
  • Confident managing complex transactions with minimal supervision
  • Technically strong with excellent drafting and negotiation skills
  • Commercially minded, pragmatic and solutions-focused
  • Comfortable building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • An effective team player with experience supervising junior lawyers
  • Organised and able to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Motivated to play a key role in the continued growth of a highly regarded national practice
