BCL Legal are working with a leading national law firm seeking a Principal Associate with 8+ years' PQE to join its nationally recognised Real Estate Finance team.
This is an outstanding opportunity to work alongside one of the UK's leading Real Estate Finance specialists, advising lenders, borrowers and investors on complex, high-value domestic and international transactions.
The team is recognised for its technical excellence and commercial approach, acting on some of the most significant and sophisticated real estate finance transactions in the market.
The successful candidate will enjoy exposure to a broad range of lender and borrower work while playing a key role in leading transactions, developing client relationships and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.
The position is based from Birmingham.
The Role
- Advise banks, alternative lenders, debt funds, fund managers, institutional investors and corporate borrowers on a broad range of domestic and international real estate finance transactions.
- Lead complex lender and borrower mandates from instruction through to completion.
- Draft, negotiate and advise on Loan Market Association (LMA) documentation and bespoke financing arrangements.
- Work closely with the national real estate team, advising on funding aspects of property acquisitions, developments, refinancings, deferred consideration arrangements and overage structures.
- Support the corporate team on the real estate finance elements of M&A and corporate transactions.
- Provide commercially focused strategic advice to a diverse client base across the real estate sector.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while contributing to business development initiatives and continued expansion of the national practice.
- Participate in industry networking events and professional organisations, including UK and CREFC.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across the firm's Banking & Finance and Real Estate teams on multi-disciplinary matters.
- Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor with ideally 8+ years' PQE specialising in Banking & Finance, with a strong focus on Real Estate Finance.
- Experience gained at a leading national or international law firm with a recognised Banking & Finance practice.
- Strong technical expertise across lender and borrower real estate finance transactions.
- Extensive experience working with LMA documentation and complex financing structures.
- Commercially astute with the ability to provide pragmatic, client-focused advice.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills.
- Strong organisational abilities with experience leading complex transactions and managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with confidence managing key client relationships.
