BCL Legal is currently recruiting for an experienced Legal Manager to join a leading national law firm's Employment Tribunals Managed Legal Services team in Birmingham.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced employment lawyer to take on a leadership role within a growing Managed Legal Services function.
Combining technical employment law expertise with operational management, you'll play a key role in delivering high-volume tribunal work while helping to shape innovative legal service delivery.
The Role
- Working alongside Employment partners and wider client teams, you'll be responsible for:
- Leading the delivery of high-volume employment tribunal matters within the Managed Legal Services team
- Supervising and developing lawyers and paralegals, ensuring consistently high-quality legal advice and service delivery
- Managing the full tribunal process, from allocation and pleadings through to disclosure, witness preparation and hearings
- Maintaining your own employment tribunal caseload alongside leadership responsibilities
- Allocating work effectively to maximise efficiency while maintaining quality
- Acting as the escalation point for complex tribunal matters
- Driving continuous improvement through structured workflows, legal technology and AI-enabled solutions
- Monitoring performance against agreed service levels, KPIs and quality standards
- Managing utilisation, billing and financial performance across the tribunal portfolio
- Supporting the continued growth and development of the team as the service expands

Candidate Profile
- Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales with around 7+ years' PQE in employment law
- Extensive experience handling employment tribunal litigation
- Experience supervising junior lawyers and/or paralegals
- The ability to balance fee-earning work with team leadership responsibilities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience using legal technology and AI tools
- Commercial awareness and an interest in managed legal services or alternative legal delivery models
- Experience implementing process improvements or structured legal workflows would be advantageous
