BCL Legal is delighted to be assisting a leading international law firm with the recruitment of a Principal Associate to join its highly regarded Non-Contentious Construction team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This opportunity is based in Birmingham and offers genuine hybrid working, a competitive salary, bonus and excellent benefits.
As a Principal Associate in this market-leading Construction team, you will:
- Work with developers, investors, contractors, public sector bodies and corporate occupiers on a broad range of high-value non-contentious construction matters.
- Draft and negotiate major construction documentation, including JCT, NEC, MF/1 and FIDIC contracts, together with development agreements, funding agreements and agreements for lease.
- Advise on nationally significant projects across sectors including regeneration, infrastructure, logistics, healthcare, life sciences, energy and commercial real estate.
- Take ownership of complex matters with a high level of autonomy while working alongside recognised leaders in the construction market.
- Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, supporting the continued growth and development of the team.
- Build strong client relationships and contribute to business development initiatives within a thriving national practice.
To be successful in your application for this Principal Associate role, you will have:
- A minimum of 6 years' PQE with strong experience in non-contentious construction law gained at a recognised commercial firm.
- Experience advising on JCT, NEC, MF/1 and FIDIC contracts, together with development and funding agreements.
- A strong track record of working on major construction or regeneration projects.
- The ability to manage complex matters with minimal supervision while providing pragmatic, commercially focused advice.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and client relationship skills, together with experience supervising junior lawyers.
- A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working as part of a leading construction team.
