A leading UK law firm is seeking a Construction Associate to join its growing and highly regarded team in Birmingham.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior construction lawyer to join a supportive and collaborative team, working on high-quality matters for a diverse client base. The role will have a primarily non-contentious focus, offering excellent opportunities to develop your technical expertise, take on increasing responsibility and build your career within a growing construction practice.
The Role
You will provide effective, commercially focused legal advice to a variety of clients, with an emphasis on delivering practical and cost-effective solutions. Responsibilities will include:
- Advising on a broad range of non-contentious construction and engineering matters
- Supporting clients with complex construction law issues, regulations and procedures
- Drafting and reviewing construction and engineering documentation
- Providing clear, practical and commercially focused advice to clients
- Supporting other areas of the wider practice where relevant, including providing technical input to the professional indemnity team
- Working collaboratively across different disciplines to develop solutions to complex legal and commercial issues
- Contributing to business development initiatives, including seminars, workshops, lectures, articles, bulletins and blogs
- Managing your workload effectively while working to tight deadlines
- Taking on increasing responsibility in line with your personal development plan
The Candidate
You will be a construction lawyer with between 0 and 4 years' PQE, with experience in non-contentious construction work and a genuine interest in developing your career within a growing practice.
- Experience of non-contentious construction work
- Strong technical, drafting and advisory skills
- A commercial and pragmatic approach to problem solving
- The ability to assimilate complex information quickly and provide clear, straightforward advice
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive and enquiring mindset, with enthusiasm for taking on new challenges
- The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider firm
- An interest in business development, networking and building long-term client relationships
