BCL Legal is pleased to be assisting a top-ranked national law firm in its search for an Associate (1-6 yr PQE) to join its Commercial Technology team in Birmingham. This exciting opportunity offers a full-time, permanent position with flexible working options and hybrid working as standard. A competitive salary and benefits package are on offer.
The Role
- Advise clients on the legal and commercial aspects of technology procurements, including IT, IP, and data protection issues.
- Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including IT outsourcings, business process outsourcings, and service level arrangements.
- Provide advice on complex implementation, transition, and exit arrangements.
- Assist clients across key sectors, such as government, financial services, insurance, automotive, and health.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, contributing to business development initiatives and sector engagement.
- Work closely with colleagues across the firm's office network, collaborating on complex matters and contributing to cross-office projects.
About You
- A minimum of 1-6 years' PQE, with experience in providing legal advice on technology procurements and major or complex projects.
- A strong background in IT outsourcings or business process outsourcings, preferably in the public or private sectors, with an understanding of privacy law and intellectual property.
- Foundation knowledge of public sector procurement rules and the FCA/PRA regulatory framework is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to digest and assimilate large contracts and complex commercial information.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with a capacity to work on multiple matters simultaneously.
