BCL Legal is delighted to present an excellent opportunity for an experienced Commercial Solicitor with a strong interest or specialism in the Education sector to join a leading national law firm's growing Commercial Education team, based in Birmingham. This is a chance to join a highly regarded, sector-focused practice advising a broad range of education clients, including universities, international education providers, schools, academies, and sector-focused corporates. The team is known for delivering high-quality, practical and commercially focused advice on complex and high-profile domestic and international matters. The role offers the opportunity to work on genuinely interesting, cross-border and strategically significant projects within a collaborative national team that is at the forefront of developments in the education sector.

The Role

  • Advise on a broad range of commercial agreements for education sector clients, including collaboration, partnership and joint venture arrangements.
  • Support on international education projects, including overseas branch campuses in jurisdictions such as Asia and beyond.
  • Advise on outsourcing, franchise, validation and nomination agreements.
  • Work closely with colleagues across commercial, corporate and sector teams on complex, multi-disciplinary matters.
  • Deliver pragmatic, client-focused legal advice on high-value and often novel projects.
  • Take an active role in client relationships, including delivering training and supporting business development initiatives.
  • Mentor and support junior lawyers within the team.

About You

  • 6+ years' PQE with a strong grounding in commercial contracts.
  • Either existing experience in the education sector or a clear and demonstrable interest in developing expertise in this area.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and advisory skills across complex commercial agreements.
  • The ability to manage matters independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • A proactive, commercial and client-focused approach.
  • Confidence in engaging with senior stakeholders and contributing to client development activity.
