BCL Legal are excited to be working with a leading international law firm as they look to recruit an Associate (0-3 PQE) into their highly ranked Restructuring team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior restructuring lawyer to join a market-leading practice advising on high-profile, complex restructuring and insolvency matters for major national and international clients.
About the Role
The firm is seeking a newly qualified to junior associate to join its Birmingham Restructuring team, which is consistently recognised as one of the strongest restructuring practices in the Midlands. In this role, you will work on a broad range of non-contentious corporate and real estate restructuring matters, with some exposure to contentious work. You will support senior lawyers on large, complex matters while also having the opportunity to take the lead on smaller assignments as your experience develops.
Your work will include:
- Advising on solvent restructurings, refinancings and insolvency processes.
- Supporting high-profile restructuring and administration matters for well-known businesses.
- Acting for a wide range of stakeholders, including lenders, private credit funds, corporates, private equity and insolvency practitioners.
- Gaining exposure to restructuring matters across sectors such as retail, energy, education and financial services.
- Getting involved in marketing and business development activity within the local and national market.
This is a varied and hands-on role, offering excellent technical development and early responsibility within a supportive and high-performing team.
The Team
The Birmingham Restructuring team is recognised as top tier in both Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners and is well known for acting on major, often headline-making restructuring and administration matters. The team advises a wide range of stakeholders on all aspects of distressed lending, restructuring, refinancing and insolvency, both in the UK and internationally, and is particularly strong in the retail, energy, education and financial services sectors.
About You
To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:
- 0-3 years' PQE (or be newly qualified), with at least one seat completed in restructuring or insolvency.
- Strong technical ability and excellent academic credentials.
- Experience supporting non-contentious corporate restructuring and insolvency matters.
- Excellent organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- A client-focused, commercial mindset and a practical approach to problem solving.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- A genuine interest in developing a long-term career in restructuring.
