Reporting into the Head of Legal, you will provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice to operational and corporate teams across the UK and, where relevant, mainland Europe. This is a hands-on role with a strong emphasis on partnering with the business and enabling delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing legal advice and risk analysis on a wide range of commercial contracts and legal documentation
- Supporting operational teams on the procurement of goods and services, including IT and digital services, facilities management and associated operational contracts
- Advising on major business-critical projects, including infrastructure and construction projects, depot upgrades, electrification and sustainability initiatives
- Supporting commercial teams on sub-contracting arrangements and operational bids, including public sector tenders
- Managing contentious matters, claims, disputes and litigation, including instructing and overseeing external counsel
- Advising on regulatory and compliance matters, ensuring alignment with internal governance frameworks
- Conducting legal research and ensuring compliance with applicable UK and European laws and regulations
About You
This role will suit a solicitor who enjoys variety, responsibility and working within a complex, fast-paced environment. You will ideally have:
- Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales, with at least 3 years’ post-qualification experience
- Strong experience in commercial law and contracting, across multiple contract types
- A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach and a proven ability to deliver commercially sound legal advice
- The confidence to manage multiple stakeholders across a matrix organisation
- Excellent communication, drafting and analytical skills
- A strong sense of corporate governance, integrity and professionalism
