Senior Associate - Banking & Finance, Belfast

The Opportunity

BCL Legal has been retained by a leading, national commercial law firm to recruit an experienced Banking & Finance Senior Associate (5+ PQE) to join their practice in Belfast.

This position is ideal for an ambitious banking lawyer seeking a high-visibility role, direct involvement in key client management, and a clear, structured pathway to Partnership.

The Role

Working alongside respected partners in the market, you will advise a sophisticated client portfolio, including major financial institutions, corporate borrowers, challenger banks, and private equity houses-on a wide range of domestic and cross-border transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading on complex banking transactions across real estate finance, corporate refinancing, acquisition finance, and leveraged lending.
  • Drafting, negotiating, and settling facility documentation, security packages, intercreditor agreements, and transaction structures.
  • Taking end-to-end ownership of deal execution and acting as a primary point of contact for clients, credit committees, and external advisers.
  • Playing a key role in client relationship management and business development across Northern Ireland and the wider UK commercial market.
  • Supervising, mentoring, and developing junior team members.

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor with 5+ years PQE in Banking & Finance, gained within a recognized commercial law firm (NI, E&W, or ROI qualified).
  • Strong track record of running corporate lending, real estate finance, or acquisition finance deals autonomously.
  • Excellent commercial judgement, technical proficiency, and negotiation skills.
  • Drive to build a long-term career with a clear focus on progressing toward leadership.
