An established and highly regarded law firm is looking to appoint a Solicitor to join its Enforcement Team in Liverpool.
The firm specialises in housing litigation and has a strong reputation for representing tenants in claims against landlords. This is an opportunity to join a well-established and growing team, with a supportive environment and good opportunities for development.
The Role
The successful candidate will manage a caseload of debt recovery and enforcement matters, with a particular focus on recovering damages, legal costs, disbursements and other sums following settlement, judgment or breach of agreement.
The role would suit a Solicitor with experience in civil litigation, debt recovery, costs recovery or enforcement, particularly those who have experience of issuing Part 8 proceedings and Court applications within a volume practice.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing a caseload of debt recovery and enforcement matters
- Reviewing settlement agreements, judgments, Court Orders and costs schedules
- Pursuing unpaid damages, costs and disbursements
- Preparing and sending letters before action and formal demands
- Issuing Part 8 proceedings and making enforcement applications
- Preparing N260 schedules
- Negotiating recovery of legal fees and expenses
- Monitoring payment deadlines and taking appropriate enforcement action
- Liaising with clients, defendants, courts, enforcement agents and other third parties
- Ensuring matters are progressed efficiently and within deadlines
About You
- A current practising certificate and the right to practise in England & Wales
- Experience in debt recovery, civil litigation, costs recovery and/or enforcement
- Good knowledge of County Court procedures and civil litigation
- Experience pursuing unpaid judgments, damages and costs
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills
- A commercial and pragmatic approach to recovery
- Experience of Proclaim would be advantageous, but is not essential
