Deputy General Counsel

BCL Legal is working on a confidential search for a Deputy General Counsel to join an established organisation in Texas.
This is a senior, broad-based in-house legal role, suited to an experienced attorney who can advise across the full range of general counsel responsibilities, with a particular preference for candidates who have a background in employment law and employment litigation.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and business stakeholders, providing practical, commercially focused legal advice while overseeing legal risk, disputes and wider business matters.
The Role
- Providing day-to-day legal advice to the business on a broad range of commercial and operational matters.
- Advising on employment law, workplace issues, employee relations and employment litigation.
- Managing litigation and disputes, including coordinating and instructing external counsel where required.
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and other business contracts.
- Advising on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, risk management and legal policies.
- Supporting senior leadership on complex legal issues and strategic business decisions.
- Identifying and mitigating legal risks across the organisation.
The Ideal Candidate
- An experienced attorney with ideally 10+ years' post-qualification experience.
- At least five years' in-house legal experience is strongly preferred.
- A background in employment law and/or employment litigation, alongside broader general counsel experience.
- Experience managing commercial contracts, litigation, compliance and wider business legal matters.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to provide pragmatic, solutions-focused advice.
- Comfortable working directly with senior leadership and managing a broad range of legal responsibilities.
- Able to work predominantly from the office in Texas.
This is an opportunity for an established in-house attorney to take on a senior, varied legal position, combining employment and litigation expertise with the broader responsibilities expected of a Deputy General Counsel.
