You’ll play a key role in creating the cost data that underpins that mission, producing high-quality activity rates, pricing structures and cost models that construction professionals rely on every day. Your work will shape BCIS products, drive data accuracy and support the development of the next generation of industry-leading cost intelligence.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll spend most of your time developing and maintaining activity rates, pricing structures and cost models - producing accurate, compliant and market-relevant data with minimal supervision. You’ll analyse market conditions, apply building regulations and ensure BCIS datasets remain current, reliable and high-quality.

Alongside technical delivery, you’ll contribute to process improvements, help refine methodologies, collaborate with internal teams, and mentor junior colleagues. You’ll support audits, document assumptions and methods, and help standardise best practices across the Data team.

Who you are

You have a strong background in construction estimating and at least 7+ years’ experience producing accurate, compliant pricing structures. You’re confident analysing large datasets, interpreting market conditions, and working with schedules of rates, life-cycle costing and facilities management data.

You’re detail-driven, analytical and comfortable working independently, but you also collaborate well with product managers, engineers, analysts and consultants. You enjoy improving processes, sharing knowledge and helping others to grow.

A degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a similar discipline is ideal. Experience mentoring or supporting colleagues is a plus.

Why you should apply

This is your opportunity to make a measurable impact on the cost data that shapes the built environment. You’ll influence how BCIS develops, maintains and improves core datasets, while contributing to methodologies, standards and continuous improvement across the organisation.

If you want a role with technical depth, autonomy and the chance to shape industry-critical data, this is the perfect next step.
