The Domestic Abuse Community Team works with women and men in the community who have experienced, or are still experiencing, domestic abuse. Specialising in providing outreach support in the BCP area. This is an exciting role to spearhead community work in BCHA’s domestic abuse services, and the wider BCP area. The community team is an integral part of BCHA's domestic abuse services, dedicated to ensuring a holistic response to domestic abuse and other forms of exploitation.

About The Role

As a Helpline Adviser, you will be the first point of contact for individuals seeking help. Managing the domestic abuse helpline, you’ll handle incoming calls and emails with empathy and professionalism, ensuring every person is heard and supported.

Responsibilities

  • Triage all referrals into the service, including police PPN referrals
  • Provide timely, appropriate responses to individuals in need
  • Offer immediate safety planning and emotional support via phone
  • Coordinate access to wider services and ongoing support

Your Approach

Working in a trauma-informed and person-centred way, you’ll build trust with individuals and empower them to move forward safely. Using a strengths-based approach, you will help people:

  • Address personal safety and reduce risk
  • Access legal, housing, and financial support
